Rivington Collection

Rivington is synonymous within cycling in the North West. Sheep house lane, a famous climb in the Rivington area has featured in the Tour of Britain, was the crunch point in the Chorley GP and is part of the gruelling Ironman Bolton route. It is a popular area with all types of cyclists including our founder, John Harrison who regularly trains in the region. We are going back to our roots and naming our latest collection after this popular cycling hotspot.

Features

The Rivington jacket has been designed to bring race like performance to your training rides. Slightly heavier than a long sleeve jersey, this jacket features a highly breathable waterproof and windproof advanced fabric from eVent, plus two front zipped vents to aid breathability in fast high tempo efforts.

The critical difference between eVent technology and traditional waterproof/breathable fabrics is the billions of microscopic pores built in to the proprietary membrane that work instantly to vent water vapour (sweat) that builds up inside your jacket when you perform.

They call this Direct Venting™ technology, and unlike other technologies, it doesn't need to get wet to work. It’s a 'dry system' that allows eVent fabrics to be fully waterproof and fully breathable. Direct Venting™ technology is engineered to keep you in the ‘dry zone’ – a steady state of temperature and humidity that reduces the wild swings our bodies go through to stay in balance during physical exertion. The result is that you’ll spend more time performing at your best and less time fussing with your gear. And when conditions are bad, this can make all the difference.

*We recommend going up a size for this jacket over our other garments. Use our specific size guide below

Excellent warm, breathable, comfortable, visible

Just back from a ride with 2640ft climbing over the High Cat & Fiddle Road at temp 1-2 deg Celsius with wind chill probably taking it down to zero. Arrived home very slightly moist but never sweaty going up nor cold dropping down. Brilliant jacket, more breathable than anything I have ever used, so comfortable and keeps you warm. I chose the multi coloured option and the bright red and blue are very visible, so important on dull winter days,, better safe than sorry.

Best of all time

Outstanding Jacket. Brilliant value.

Ok, so I’ve been cycling for 30+ years, year round, in the UK where it’s often wet, cold and miserable. I’ve owned clothing and winter jackets from some great brands (such as Assos, Castelli, Endura Pro, Rapha, Santini).

Hands down, this is the best winter jacket that I own and it’s now my go-to jacket. The fit is excellent due to the very stretchy material which has great wind blocking capability - much better than the early generation Gore Windstopper fabrics. Breathability of the fabric is also brilliant, at an outstanding 30,000mg/m2…I’ve found a lot of manufacturers don’t quote this stat, but it’s a critical rating to consider and if your are shopping around, enquire with the supplier.
This jacket material is very similar to the highly regarded “gabba” materials first used by Castelli. There’s a handy “waterproof” phone pocket on top of the three rear pockets and a generous sleeve length and drop tail, particularly useful for those of you foolish enough to time a UK winter without mudguards!

The hidden secret of this jacket is also the best - the zipped side vents - One of the most useful features I’ve come across in a winter jacket. They really work a treat when you are exerting yourself and want to cool things down.

I typically wear a long sleeve base layer underneath and will carry a gilet on longer rides in case I get cold, but I rarely need to use it. A great British product .

Excellent

I have been using a Rivington jacket for the last 10 months. It's good.

Completely windproof. Breathes well. Waterproof enough. Fits me well. And I like the colour.

I only wish the pockets were not so high up the back, but this is more a personal thing as I struggle to get my hands behind my back.

And it is made in the UK too. (That's made in the uk not just designed here and made elsewhere).

Top performing jacket

I’ve got one of each of these jackets and from the off was massively impressed.

Needed to size up, but have worn this jacket in UK extremes, torrential rain where it held out for a solid 3 hours, to -3 (and probably lower) with nothing more than a baselayer underneath.

Max heat, for me at least, is around 12c with the vents open, and I imagine if you were really pushing it you might get a bit toasty, but between late autumn and mid spring this is me go to jacket if it’s looking miserable outside,
